RE: Stone Mountain Park GA???

We have stayed there several times and enjoy the park. As others have said, some of the sites are hard to get into and unlevel. We've always stayed on the loop around the pool. All of those sites are level and will hold any size rig. If you stay in any other loop, bring lots of blocks or whatever you use to level the trailer.

RE: Alabama to Yellowstone: I-80 or I-90???

We're allowing 4 days each way to Yellowstone. Planning to drive 9 or 10 hour days. We won't have much time for stops on the way (we both still work full time so 3 weeks off was the max). So side trips on the way out is really not an issue. We're just looking for the best road......trying to avoid anything like I-20 in Alabama, which will beat you to death with the bumps. Once at Yellowstone, we're staying 9 days at Fishing Bridge, then 3 days at Colter Bay in the Tetons. Thanks for all of the great advice!!!!

We're heading to Yellowstone the end of May. Trying to decide which route is best, I-80 or I-90??? We plan to drive 10 hour days on the way out there and back. Not alot of time for sightseeing on the way......just trying to get to Yellowstone and spend as much time as possible there. Thanks in advance for any help.

RE: Myrtle Beach Campgrounds

We just returned from 9 days at Myrtle Beach Travel Park. We liked this one alot. It's very close to the beach. They do allow pets at the campground and also on the beach. We drove through Apache but like MBTP much better.

RE: Family style seafood restaurants around Myrtle Beach

We are at Myrtle Beach Travel Park now. The Original Benjamin's Calabash Seafood has an awesome buffet with the best crab legs I've ever eaten. I think it was $26.95 but look in the coupon books for a $4 off coupon. Excellent service also. Last night we tried Gulfstream Cafe in Murrell's Inlet. Get there before 5:30pm for the early bird specials. I had fried shrimp & oysters, baked potato, salad, and drink for $10.95. Great food, great price, wonderful view!!!! We also tried Nances at Murrells Inlet. Excellent food there too. They, too, have early bird specials from 4 til 5 - buy one get one 1/2 price entrees. Enjoy.

RE: The Great Smokey Mountains??

I would agree with Townsend TN. Much quieter than Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg. We have always stayed at Tremont Hills Campground. Nice campground with full hookups located on the Little River. If you get a waterfront site, you will have your own deck overlooking the river. Very nice and quiet. Don't think you'll be disappointed. Plus it's only 8 or 9 miles to Cades Cove, which is not to be missed!!!!

RE: Another Gatlinburg thread

We always stay at Tremont Outdoor Resort. We did have WiFi service there in October 07. About a 7 or 8 mile drive to Cades Cove, 30 minutes or so to Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge. As for your wife's overly developed shopping gene, she is going to LOVE the outlets in Pigeon Forge.

RE: Gatlinburg, sites, a little different request>

We like Tremont Hills Campground in Townsend TN. It's a 30 minute drive from Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg, but there's much less traffic. You can get on the Foothills Parkway in Townsend, which is a shortcut over to the Dragon. Be sure and ride on the Cherohala Skyway while you are there. It's a beautiful ride. Indian Boundary campground is located ON the Cherohala Skyway. We've stayed there before and rode bikes to the Dragon. Tellico Plains is also a nice town with a KOA campground. Located at the end of the Cherohala Skyway. The town is very bike friendly.

RE: Charleston SC and southern coastal NC suggestions??

James Island County Park. One of the nicest campgrounds we've stayed at. Lots to do and see within the park. Sites are not crowded.

RE: Pigeon Forge Things to Do

As mentioned already, Cades Cove is a MUST!!!! If you like that, also try Roaring Forks Motor Nature trail just above Gatlinburg. We also like to drive up to Ober Gatlinburg (or take the Aerial Tram) and catch the chairlift to the top for an awesome view. Our favorite places to eat are Cherokee Grill (always a great meal) and The Smoky Mountain Brewery in Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge. They have brick oven pizzas to die for and micro-brewed beer. My husband's fav is Cherokee Red. The Aquarium in Gatlinburg is a good one. Have fun.

RE: The Lost Sea in Sweetwater, TN

We've stayed at Black Bear Cove in Benton TN. Not too far from Sweetwater. It's a nice new campground on the Hiwassee River with full hookups to include cable TV. Check out their site at www.blackbearcove.com Also, Indian Boundary Campground is a National Forest campground on the Cherohala Skyway. It's a beautiful campground near Tellico Plains.

RE: Alabama to Fishing Bridge???

Outdoor Life, We should be there the first 2 weeks of June. When are you going???? This is our first trip West so we are open to any and all suggestions. I have bought several books on the area but it's always best to get information from this site. Always lots of good advice. Thanks in advance.

RE: Alabama to Fishing Bridge???

Thanks for the info. I was thinking East may be best. We have reservations at Fishing Bridge for 9 days, then 3 days at Colter Bay, so we'll be leaving through the South entrance. We both work so we have a total of about 18 or 19 days for the entire trip. We'd love to have more time for sightseeing along the way, but that's not much of an option YET.......we want to spend most of our time in the Yellowstone/Teton area.

Alabama to Fishing Bridge???

What is the best entrance to get to Fishing Bridge Campground in Yellowstone, coming from Alabama???? Also, we're thinking 3 to 3 1/2 days driving time to get there. Is that about right??? Thanks in advance for your help.

RE: Treemont Hills Outdoor Resort/ Townsend TN

We've stayed at the new section. All of the sites on the river are well shaded. We liked the area. Some sites have more room than the A section sites, but some were about the same. Each site has it's on deck overlooking the water.
